Captain Edward Saxe will always be remembered as the founder of the Village of Saxeville, the owner of the 1st business enterprise in Waushara County, the 1860 census taker who gave complete information on each family, and the organizer of the Waushara Rangers, later Company A of the 16th Wisconsin Regiment, who fought valiantly in the civil war. All of these things he accomplished between 1849 and 1862. What a truly remarkable leader!
